Description

Based on the principles of Self-Directed Education, BigFish offers teens and families in the NH Seacoast a different approach to living and learning — without conventional school. (Legally, most members become homeschoolers, which allows staff to work with youth in a flexible, collaborative, and respectful manner.)

BigFish is open 4 days a week (following the school calendar, but closed Fridays), offering classes, tutorials, workshops, and a place for teens to work and socialize. Additionally, we help teens with college admissions and the process of finding internships and volunteer work in the community. Each teen member is matched with a staff mentor who meets with them regularly to help them pursue the education and life they want for themselves.

BigFish is a non-profit organization supported by tuition and donations, and offering fee reductions, when needed, to foster diversity among the membership.
