SDE Optimizing Conditions
ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance,
or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions
for young people to succeed in SDE. Survey answers:
- Responsibility – We provide a community, a framework, and a loving enriching environment for young people to direct their own learning.
- Youth Autonomy – At GROW we believe in the play, passion, purpose continuum. Meaning that we trust that young people will play their way into their passion and their passion will become their purpose.
- Access to Tools and Technology – As a community we collaborate to provide the tools and resources needed to enrich our learning spaces.
- Adult Allies – The adults at GROW maintain the culture by modeling the core values and also serve as resources when needed.
- Free Age Mixing – GROW is a mixed age learning community.
- Community – We have weekly “GROW Voices” meetings rooted in sociocracy and dialogue where everyone has a voice in creating a happy, healthy, and safe learning community.
