Liberation Happens Collectively

In our last newsletter, we shared about a new virtual community that is starting up for SDE Founders and Facilitators. Today, we want to focus on highlighting a couple of other virtual communities that specifically center collective liberation and BIPOC voices.

My Reflection Matters Village

My Reflection Matters Village is a virtual community that provides the conversations, supports, resources, & healing necessary for caregivers & educators choosing liberation centered self-directed learning and living. While all are welcome, we are a space that centers the lived experiences of BIPOC unschoolers.

The Unschool Files Community

Meghan organizes a variety of community events through a private Discord server!

Members are all cooperatively creating the kind of community that is supportive, engaging and most of all ... a soft place for us to land.

There you will find coffee chats, themed support circles, special guest speakers and Q&A’s.

This space is a launch pad for all things related to The Unschool Files Community – a worldwide network of parents, caregivers and facilitators who are living life without school with young people, through Self-Directed Education and partnership parenting.

We have a specific focus on collective liberation and create spaces and events to support one another with that in mind.

International Freedom in Education Day – Sept. 15th

Hey folks! Do you know what’s happening on September 15th? It’s the International Freedom in Education Day! πŸ“šπŸŒOn this special day, the focus is all about advocating for education to be accessible for all, without discrimination or coercion. Imagine how awesome it would be if each of us had the freedom to choose our own path that aligns with our interests and strengths.

Self-Directed Education empowers each of us to develop our knowledge and skills in a way that works best for us.

Let’s ponder on this day how crucial education freedom is and how we can support it by considering Self-Directed Education as the ideal way to take full control of our learning journeys. On social media, share a short video about why Self-Directed Education is so important in your life. Feel free to tag us @alliance4sde and use the hashtags below for more visibility.
