It’s Spring for some of us and we always feel a kind of shifting energy around this time of year. Many centers are wrapping up for the year and preparing to take several months off (although, if your center is year-round, tell us, at info@self-directed.org, how that goes for you! We want to hear about all the iterations of SDE centers and meetups and co-ops and gatherings!). Summer trainings and gatherings are also being planned and shared, while many folks are reflecting on the year in their communities.

Over at ASDE, our first ever ASDE Compendium Guided Cohort has begun, and we are already feeling the positivity of connection, validation in our struggles and wonderings, and building beautiful communities of learning and support together. If you are interested in future iterations of The ASDE Compendium offerings, let us know!

We want to know what you’re up to, what offerings you have to share, and what’s pertinent for you in this coming season of life, whatever it may bring. Email us with your stories or sharings, or feel free to post events in our Resource Directory.

Entrusted with Uncertainty: A 12-Week Journey Through Deschooling, Grief & Eros

🌿Remembering and Reimagining.

An offering from Reimagined Learning Community

The world is unraveling. Many of us feel it in our bones. What if, instead of rushing to fix or escape, we turned toward the uncertainty, tending to the grief, the longings, the untamed possibilities waiting beneath the surface?

Entrusted with Uncertainty is an invitation. A gathering. A 12-week experiment in unlearning colonial habits, sitting with discomfort, and composting what no longer serves together.

This is not about arriving at answers. It is about deepening questions, about grieving and dreaming, about weaving futures beyond extraction.

💭Are you feeling the pull?

For 12 weeks, we will meet in live sessions to study, reflect, and practice, exploring the tensions, paradoxes, and openings of this moment. Some sessions will be recorded, but others, where we work with embodiment and integration, will remain sacred and unrecorded.

✨Who is this for?

If you are holding grief, curiosity, or restlessness about the state of the world, if you are drawn to the edges of learning, sensing that something different is possible, this space is for you.

Sudbury International Blog!

Sudbury International is happy to share that their blog is officially up and running!

The first series of posts dive into a question they’re often asked — What is Sudbury?

Rather than give you one definition, they’re offering many: voices from around the world, each sharing what this work means in their corner of it. Some have been doing this for decades. Others are just beginning. All of them are speaking from experience.

They’ve published four pieces so far, with more on the way in the coming weeks.

They invite you to take a moment to read, reflect, and let them know what resonates.

Board Position: Director of Educational Programming Organization: Global Peace Partners (GPP)

Global Peace Partners

Global Peace Partners is a growing nonprofit dedicated to advancing a liberated, democratic approach to education. We offer in-person and virtual facilitation, downloadable resources, and other learning tools to promote cultural sensitivity, critical thinking, and cooperation. Our work is rooted in the belief that supporting peace and resourcing the next generation goes hand in hand with supporting sustainable development in communities that seek and need it most.

We are currently seeking a Director of Educational Programming to serve on our Board of Directors. This is a remote volunteer position, with an estimated time commitment of 1–5 hours per month. Responsibilities include participation in virtual board meetings (held every 2–3 months), availability for guidance and emergent needs, networking, and the option to engage in additional areas aligned with your interests and expertise. As we are in the early stages of incorporation and organizational development, more involvement may be needed initially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide fiduciary and fiscal oversight
  • Evaluate the Executive Director and educational programs
  • Help ensure legal, ethical, and effective governance
  • Support the development of strategic partnerships
  • Contribute to strategic planning, especially in educational programming
  • Share expertise in cooperative, innovative learning grounded in peace-building and cultural respect

As a Teal-inspired, international organization, we value self-management, trust, autonomy, and a shared commitment to purpose-driven growth. We ask all board members to embody these values and help shape a mission that evolves with integrity, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and collective wisdom.
