Description

Flovira Democratic School
Live, Learn, Connect, Create, and Play in Freedom, Flow, and Connection.

Flovira aims to ensure that children and young people experience a high level of well-being, can fully develop their potential, are seen and respected as whole human beings, and grow into fulfilled, entrepreneurial, self-confident, and self-aware individuals who live in connection with themselves and their environment.

Freedom
Children are the owners of their own lives and learning processes. They are trusted to make their own choices and to take responsibility for them.

Flow
The space to be yourself, to follow your own path and passions, to express creativity, and to live and learn from joy and intrinsic motivation.

Connection
The creation of a conscious community where we live together in connection and equality, with space for everyone’s diversity. A community in which all members have an equal voice and make decisions together, taking everyone’s needs into account.

Ages 3–18

SDE Optimizing Conditions

ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance, or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions for young people to succeed in SDE.  Survey answers:
  1. Responsibility – Students are the owners of their own lives and learning processes and are trusted to make their own choices and take responsibility for them. They are never pushed or required to participate in specific activities. It is always their own choice.
  2. Youth Autonomy – Students are free to choose what they do and learn throughout the day, every day. There are no mandatory activities, except for the expectation to take part in mediation when they are involved in a conflict.
  3. Access to Tools and Technology – All members are free to use the available tools and multimedia. For some tools, specific agreements apply. A limited number of tools require supervision by a more experienced person until safe use is clearly demonstrated.
  4. Adult Allies – Various facilitators are available to inspire, support, and offer emotional guidance in everything students undertake. They may also offer classes or workshops, but they do not give tests or grades.
  5. Free Age Mixing – All ages mixed together, from 3 to 18 years old. Free interaction between all ages and facilitators.
  6. Community – All members have an equal voice, and decisions are made by consent, based on needs.
