Part Time Facilitator
Country: United States
Description
At Meraki, young people learn through following their interests and passions, free play, interacting and managing conflict in community, navigating relationships, self-chosen activities and deep dives, consensus decision-making, and more.
The role of facilitators is to support and facilitate our youth-run democratic processes; support conflict resolution processes; and develop trusting, supportive relationships with young people free from coercion and control. Facilitators will assist in coordinating youth activities, create and run offerings, and model engagement in passions in interests. Facilitators will also support minor admin work such as family interviews, mentorship meetings, communication and weekly emails, and family check-in conferences.
Staff Responsibilities include:
Model curiosity and willingness to try new things.
Assist youth with organizing and executing their ideas. Youth are not often given agency over their time and space and because of that have limited experience organizing around a goal. Facilitators can empower youth to try new projects by helping them work out the details and follow through without the expectation of perfection.
Share opportunities around topics of interest. Happily accept no. Actively support yes.
Amplify the offerings of the day, through written and verbal reminders.
