Transforming Traditional Secondary Schools
Description
This is an event co-organized by Rights Centric Education. It is about creating space in traditional secondary schools for students to become pioneers in creating a new social contract for education. It is grounded in the human rights visions for education articulated by Je’anna Clements. She regards wellbeing and human rights as expressions of the same thing. People attending this event are encouraged to attend Je’anna’s January 21st Learning Planet Festival event titled: C-Cubed: Why Peace in Schools is Hard to Achieve, and What We Can Do.
“Transforming Traditional Secondary Schools”, will shed light on why so many concerted attempts to transform education have failed, and how to provide secondary school students with lived experience in learning environments designed for human flourishing. It is about progressively transforming education in partnership with others, including those who are skeptical about putting trust in young people. Participants will learn how just a few people can create the conditions for renewal in school systems known to be resistant to change. The kind of change being advocated is within reach. It only requires unleashing those who wish to pioneer our future.
