SDE Optimizing Conditions

ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance, or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions for young people to succeed in SDE.  Survey answers:
  1. Responsibility – Since we do not require or push any particular educational path, members understand that how they spend their time and how they learn is up to them.
  2. Youth Autonomy – Members make their own choices about what they do at the center.
  3. Access to Tools and Technology – We offer as many resources as we can and have them freely available. For example, we keep a well stocked art room and maker space.
  4. Adult Allies – Our mentors are here to support the members in any way they are asked, but adult involvement follows what the members ask for.
  5. Free Age Mixing – Our community of members span the ages of 11-18 and they all freely mix throughout the day.
  6. Community – Yes, this describes how our community operates.
