Description

As a self-directed learning community we believe learning is natural and happening all the time. The goal of this group is to provide regular gatherings where friendships can blossom and emotional well-being is nourished. In this space, we can work to liberate ourselves and our children from oppressive systems and schoolish mindsets of perfection, competition, conformity, and compliance.

SDE Optimizing Conditions

ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance, or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions for young people to succeed in SDE.  Survey answers:
  1. Responsibility – All offerings are optional and self- chosen.
  2. Youth Autonomy – We currently offer park days for free play. Sometimes we will have an offering which is optional.
  3. Access to Tools and Technology(not answered)
  4. Adult Allies – We have an unschooling book club for adults to help us deschool and better understand what SDE means.
  5. Free Age Mixing – Our park days are all ages. Most events are all ages, unless specified for teens only.
  6. Community – We plan events monthly, and the kids vote on special paid events.
