Description

Unschoolers Coworking Space is a dedicated virtual environment for teens to engage with their projects in a collaborative and supportive setting. Here, independent learners can bring their ideas and initiatives whether they are working on personal projects, seeking assistance, exploring new concepts or just want to share. The space fosters a culture of respect and autonomy, allowing each individual to approach their learning journey at their own pace.

Within this dynamic community, teens are encouraged to share their experiences, ask questions, and problem-solve together, cultivating an atmosphere of mutual support and innovation. By promoting collaboration, the Unschoolers Coworking Space not only enhances the learning experience but also empowers young individuals to take ownership of their educational paths.

SDE Optimizing Conditions

ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance, or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions for young people to succeed in SDE.  Survey answers:
  1. Responsibility – Teens pick their project and goals, and a facilitator is there for help and direction when asked. No grading and whatever they come with is accepted.
  2. Youth Autonomy – The projects are of their choosing and goals are what they set. They chose how much and what they share.
  3. Access to Tools and Technology – The only “tool” is facilitation - everyone has equal access to problem solving and assessing with the facilitator.
  4. Adult Allies – We have no grading, students share what they want, and we provide support. Self-assessment is done when requested.
  5. Free Age Mixing – We have large age ranges - from tween to teen. We will incorporate younger if they are able to.
  6. Community – Everything is done by choice. Feedback is given in a supportive way and anything beyond that is consent-based (example: if they want ways to improve a story).
