SDE Optimizing Conditions

ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance, or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions for young people to succeed in SDE.  Survey answers:
  1. Responsibility – Our young people often discuss how freedoms and responsibilities go hand-in-hand. They are responsible for their learning (with our support if requested) and have the freedom to pursue their interests.
  2. Youth Autonomy – Children and young people at Wild Earth are respected and trusted to pursue their own passions, without support and guidance if requested. They are free to play, eat, socialise, explore whenever and however they wish.
  3. Access to Tools and Technology – Our young people have access to all tools, with all information so choices are informed.
  4. Adult Allies – We have 3 seanĂ³irs (facilitators) including a Forest School Leader and an Eco Therapist who are all deeply connected to SDE. In addition to the support we provide, skilled community members are also invited in at the request of our young people.
  5. Free Age Mixing – We have humans aged 5-41 on site each day, mixing freely.
  6. Community – All decisions are made using sociocratic circles and processes. All communication is open and spoken with love; we use restorative language and practices.
